The background seems a little drab, and a bit too much of it. I don't know why it snuffs me. Lantern should maybe not be so clean, too....

It is sometimes the case where one thinks a task has finally been completed, then realizes it has only just begun. It was so here. Twilight was very much relieved, but suddenly she went serious again. "Oh, no." She said. "I already sent the approval letter to Dr. Splintcane. She'll be distributing them!" Rarity put a hoof on her shoulder. "Not so fast. I don't think she could have thrown together a whole manufacturing plant in the time since you sent it. We've still got time, if we don't slack off." Twilight was just starting to calm down when Spike blasted out a letter. He opened it and began reading to himself. A moment later, he yelled "What?! Twilight, look at this!" Twilight took the letter. After about the same amount of time, she said "She glitched into the messaging system while we were on the train, Spike." Having caused a great deal of spontaneous curiosity, Twilight had to explain. "While I was working on the dragon laws my eyes kept getting tired. So I went to try and find something to help, andended up meeting with Dr. Splintcane; who needed to test these lenses. Then when I went to Threndale Vanilla Flintsword started looking at me funny. But... Then why... I guess they must have been set back when she turned me into a giraffe." Pinky immediately asked "Vannila Flintsword turned you into a giraffe?" Twilight reflexively answered "No! I mean, yes. She had the inspiration manifestation spell book." Spike was of course confused by this. "The one I gave to Rarity that made her change everything? But, I ate that book." Twilight sighed. "Spike, you have to burn dark magic items. Apparently you coughed it up when we last went to the Crystal Empire, and Igniandra found it. Don't worry, it's burnt now. As the Threndale smithy can testify." Fluttershy spoke up. "Um, Twilight? The contact lense

Mr. Dannon was helping a customer decide which toothbrush to buy when Dr. Splintcane burst through the door. "She approved them! The princess approved the contact lenses! I can submit them for the National Science Exhibition!" The customer, who happened to be a tourist, was of course quite interested. "Wait. Princess Twilight? I didn't know we did that sort of thing. I had an idea for a mechanical grass harvester once. Do you think I could get approval frm her?" Splintcane was momentarily bewildered, but quickly realized the misunderstanding. "No, I mean she tested them for me. The MDRC are the ones who do that kind of approving. They said if I could get a pony unconnected with the project and with no unusual vision conditions to approve the lenses after a testing period, they woud allow them to be put under further testing, and I could submit them at the NSE." The pony had, by this time, lost interest in their original question. "The princess tested something for you as a favor?" Mary

SfWYA, chapter 11 The End of a Day
The two sat quietly on the bench for a few minutes. The others stayed for most of it, in case they would be needed. Eventually, Twilight stood up and said "Well, we've got work to do." Vanilla was explicably puzzled. "What work?" she said. Twilight was about to explain when an explosion nearby accompanied with hissing that sounded like screaming startled them both. It was from inside the smithy's shop, and the smithy came out coughing. "I can understand your sisters doing something like that, but the idea that YOU, Hannah Flogiston, would put a firework in my furnace after asking permission and stating it was simply a book you needed to burn is intolerable!" Hannah had just stepped out of the shop, and was looking quite red in the face. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... It was dark magic book, so I guess that's why it exploded, but I didn't know that was going to happen!" A voice from up the street surprised them all. "Igniandra, what was in that spell book?" Igniandra thought for a minute and said "There was only one spell in the book, and it was at the beginning. It was called Inspiration Manifestation." Twilight put her hoof to her head and tried to remember where she had heard that before, then asked "Do you remember any of the spell wording?" Igniandra, knowing that without the book or powering magic the spell would not work, and having read the spell multiple times, recited. "From in the mind out into the world, every thought to action. SfWYA, chapter 8 Truth be Told
Zwap! "Ow! Careful." Violet said, undoing herself from the dancing ribbon that had just hit her in the face. "Lo sentimos, senorita!" The young llama said, going rather red in the face. The one thing that Threndale was famous for besides French horn playing was the llamish families that lived there, most of which were Hispanic, and at the last minute Vanilla had decided to ask a particular family with daughters that could ribbon dance to participate in the welcoming party preparations. She wasn't sure if she would use them or not, but she wanted them to be ready just in case. Vanilla was certainly doing better, partially because of Bluebell's strange cooperation, but also because it was looking like everything really would be alright. But nevertheless she had a lingering twang of fear that something was not as it should be, and it kept her in a bit of a frenzy, checking everything over and over again. SfWYA, chapter 7 the day approaches
Tensed with fright, Vanilla awoke. The scene faded, and for a moment all she could see were patterns of glowing orange lines. After a few seconds she finally became fully aware of where she was. It had been a nightmare (I may assure thew reader that Princess Luna was not responsible, nor had anything to do with it, nor would have been without compassion had she known about it). It was the hour of the princess'es arrival, and somehow all the preparation work she had done was on fire, and it looked like she was responsible. Trying to find a solution, she was startled by a bang as the doors behind her opened. She knew it was the princess. She thought she had more time than that. It was when she heard the bang that she had awakened. What if somthing like that did happen? What would the princess do? What if more than just the preparations were desteoyed? Iw was a bad fright, and her mind kept going in circles over the prospect of "what if" until she finally went back to sleep.

A Visitor, part 2 settling in
Igniandra was in Twilight's castle library. Twilight had left with Spike a while ago to talk to the mayor about possibly adjusting the weather patterns until the effects of the magic storm the other day had been dealt with, and had left Igniandra with instructions to “behave.” Naturally, Igniandra began exploring the castle. After that was finished and she knew where everything was she went back to the part that had interested her the most: the library. There were quite a few books there that even she did not have in her collection. She read one of these (it was a book on cat communication) for a while, but was quite finished for the time being before Twilight had come back. She thought for a minute, and decided it would not be violating Twilight's command to leave the castle, and did so. It felt a bit strange being able to walk undisguised right through the town, as she was used to winding around behind barrels, crates, shop stands, or whatever cover she could find. It rem

"Are you almost done?" Twilight was getting tired of just sitting here waiting for Igniandra to finish her mane. "Yes, and I haven't taken that long. This perm spell is hard!" Just then Vanilla Flintsword called from outside. "Are you almost finished? It's been twenty minutes!" Neither of the two was sure which of their cases had just been rested. They both laughed. Igniandra yelled back "yes," and then said "there! Finished. Alright, Bluebell, let's get out there." They left the bathroom to find Vanilla waiting outside and looking impatient. "Well, you certainly took your time! Now can we get this filled out, or do you need to get a face-lift first?" Bluebell sighed. "I'm sorry. I should've..." Vanilla interrupted her. "It doesn't matter now, just answer the questions. First, do you intend to stay on until the ambassador arrives?" Bluebell thought a minute, then said "I intend to stay on until the date when she was scheduled to arrive. Beyond that..." Vanilla interrupted.

SfWYA chapter 5 All is Not Lost
Twilight could hardly believe herself as she remembered who that voice belonged to. She slowly got up, and looked in the direction of who had spoken. Sure enough, with blue/purple scales and F-cleft antlers, there the dragon sat on the far side of the stage, having just finished polishing the bowl of the next French horn. "Igniandra? What are you doing here?" Twilight stared in disbelief. "What does it look like I'm doing? I'm polishing French horns for the arrival of Miss Royal Ambassador. But I'm afraid the town's preparations weren't quite conceived so as to fit this." Igniandra motioned to Twilight's dirty form. Twilight, meanwhile, felt twisted. She could clearly tell that Igniandra was suspicious, or angry, or some combination of the two. A blonde unicorn with a Katherine Hepburn manestyle and very light orange skin set down her French horn and walked over to Twilight, putting her hoof around her. "Let me guess. You just got your first dose of the new and improved Va

Squeak, screech, squeak, went the polishing cloth. Back and forth went the distorted reflection of Igniandra's foreleg. Squirm and stretch went her face as she made faces in conjunction with her polishing motion. She managed to make it look as if moving the cloth over her face brought it from almost normal size to ridiculously inflated  and wanting to eat the cloth just about the time Vanilla Flintsword noticed. "Stop being careless! I don't want a bunch of dragon saliva getting smeared all over that French horn." Having said this, she turned to leave. Igniandra immediately stopped making faces at her reflection. She made them at Vanilla's turned back instead. Violet had been watching the whole time, and at one particularly absurd set of faces, she let out the tiniest snigger. Like a hawk Vanilla swung round and shot her steel eyes at... the rather normal looking Igniandra (if Igniandra could be called normal). She noticed Violet out of the corner of her eye, and gave

Seen for Who You Are, Chapter 3
As the journey wore on over the next few days, Twilight became more and more frustrated as, in conjunction with stops, more and more passengers were stunned by her presence (popularity = some constant * distance from Ponyville). At one point she almost said "my royal bohuncus is just fine with the room it has" when, in the club car, a pony was just giving up their half of the seat for her. It was almost as bad as the time when Celestia had sent her two GGG tickets. That reminded her. What did she ever do with the second ticket? When Celestia had finally discovered her mistake, she had sent a total of six extra tickets (one for everypony plus Spike), thus leaving the one extra. She thought for a moment, then realized that, as bizarre as it seemed, it quite possibly could still be in the bottom of her satchel. She dug through her pens, notebooks, blank reference cards, and other librarian/literature teacher related monasery, right down to the bottom. There, sure enough, was

Phesla was your average person. She liked her work because she smelled what she called "hints" in it. What she meant was that there was something about the way space operated like clockwork that seemed to whisper of some greater purpose. Her ultimate goal was to find that purpose, and since the workings of other gravity systems and spherums was where she smelled it strongest, that was where she dug. She became such an expert that she could accurately guess how long a moon's orbit would last before it passed the Roche limit after just a quick glance at the data.
There were times when she felt that the whole thing was pointless and that there really was nothing to be found in connection with the skies above her. When this happened, she often turned to pictures of it. These were not hard to find on the omniweb, and when she saw them it did not take long to reawaken hope. How could such beauty come from nothing? Nebulae, galaxies, even the simple star  cluster was a masterpiece. There had to be some reason somewhere, and that Reason must be somehow essentially good. That Reason, she had no doubt, would be the Answer to all.
It was on one such occasion where, glancing at non-image search results, she noticed a recent news post. It quickly grabbed all of her attention. The headline read "Unregistered Spacecraft Captured by PPS, Scientists Say It's Not Ours." She tapped it. As best as was possible to transcribe, this is how the article read. "Two days ago, the PPS system servicers received a waste load that contained a manufactured object, later identified as some sort of remote control exploration spacecraft. The craft does not appear to be from Tev at all, so we must assume that this is indeed solid evidence that a second habitable spherum exists. The only damage appears to be from the recovery process, so we can safely assert that the spherum is near to Tev since longer term space travel would have damaged the craft severely. It is quite possible that said spherum is within actual range of our current life supporting spacecraft. The SERC has received the craft and all pre-gathered information about it, and is expecting to have solid answers within a week."
Phesla was dumbfounded. There were others out there? Could this be what she had been searching for? It seemed too succinct to be an accident. Here she was looking for hope, and something from right where she would be digging if it weren't her off day landed right in her dish. Almost literally. But even if it wasn't the Answer, it might help her find it, and she had more than personal interest to try this new avenue.
Tev was not as it seemed it could, or rather should, be. They worked, and panted, and bled, and sometimes died to make it better, but it seemed like some distortion was always eating it's way in. Some of them had even let it stain their very personality, and when they did it was easy to see it slowly kill them. It was a constant fight. And everyone felt it. She knew it wasn't just them, though.
As I mentioned, she knew all about the Roche limit (the distance a moon had to be from a planet before the planet's gravity would rip it apart). This and other things she saw in space all mirrored the distortion she saw on Tev. It wasn't just their spherum, it affected space as well. That too, the one beauty she knew could not have been made by anything but the Reason, had been marred.
When she had seen this, she had committed, only second in priority to finding the Reason (if, despite her expectations, the two did not lead to the same place), to finding out how to stop the distortion for final. Now it seemed she might have a scent.
The next day she went back to work.
For once she had trouble staying on task with the regular grind because she had glanced at her assigned schedule and, sure enough, the unregistered craft was on it. The gopher girl of the office, a young Brittany Spaniel named Molly, asked her "You don't seem the same today. What's up?"
Phesla put down her pen. "It's that spacecraft. I've been thinking about it since yesterday, and it's hard to wait."
Molly nodded. "Oh, yeah. That thing. They're testing the engines right now."
Phesla looked at her. "Testing? What do you mean?" Molly seemed almost as confused as Phesla was. "They finished the engines, and now they're testing them."
Phesla began to have some understanding. "Molly, I was talking about the spacecraft that the PPS system picked up."
Molly looked embarrassed. "Oh, that one! I thought you meant the one they were building to respond to it."
Phesla froze. They were building a spacecraft?
The lunch bell rang.
Forgiven Planet, chapter 1 News
I'm taking a risk! Here is the fairly unedited first chapter of a story that could go several places.

I am copying C.S. Lewis's space trilogy in that the dogs do not have a built in sin nature to start with, but this differs in that they can choose evil and thus accept a sin nature in a way.

Phesla is a dog on the planet Tev. She loves her job at their NASA equivalent because of the beauty she sees in space. But everywhere she looks there is also corruption and disorder. Now it seems as if she might have a chance to find the Great Reason and also possibly the source of the disorder.

Wrote allot of SfWYA today. Actually may have hinted too much at a sequel. Like, to the point where I'm spoiling it.
I've been thinking alot about portal recently. After allot of research for a theory, I think I know enough about it now to write a fanfiction. I've never played the actual game, but I've read, and texted my cousin who has played it, and watched footage, and learned Cara Mia Addio in English and the "original" Italian, all to the purpose of either writing a fanfiction of My Little Pony with aka portal elements, or writing Portal 3. Of course, there is the alien dog story (planning to submit after a while). So, what should I do?

Here's what I think the portal story would look like. Basically, I want to try and repair the soap in the mouth opera that valve has set as the portal backstory by taking every last undefined element I can find and bending them to overall make the story straighter. We all know that GLaDOS lied in the ending scene and is Chell's mother, so we've got unresolved tension to write the story around. Plus, there's the fact that Caroline may not be actually digitalized. Sure that was Cancelled Johnson's plan, but as he said his "engineers are working on that right now." Given other events, I am convinced that Caroline is alive. Before this is discovered, however, there is plenty of room for humor.

So, do I write that, or concentrate on Forgiven Planet?

Twilight took the letter. After about the same amount of time, she said "She glitched into the messaging system while we were on the train, Spike." Spike turned aside to process this, then suddenly became alarmed. "You told me to write Celestia because you knew she would read it!" Twilight was about to say "I didn't know for sure she would," but Spike continued. "I put personal stuff in that letter! She's gonna tease me to DEATH when I see her next, if she doesn't think I'm an absolute jerk." Twilight had stopped listening and turned back to the letter. Now, as she read, she began to look tense.
"Twilight, what is it?" Rainbow asked. "H-hold on" Twilight said, holding her hood out defensively. A few seconds later, she muttered "no," then began repeating it louder and louder until she dropped the letter and ran out the door. This process was repeated by each pony in turn (including Spike), and to simplify what happened in each of their minds I will transcribe the last half of the letter. "Since this [Igniandra glitching into the system] should, by design, never have happened, I have decided to shut down the system entirely until all four of us can come together with enough time to solve it. In fact, we may have such an opportunity at the National Science Exhibition. I know you were not planning on coming, but considering some of the entries I myself am personally asking you to attend. In the spirit of the event, Princess Luna will be wearing jewelry made from stones produced by Dorcas Mineral Research, and I will be wearing a pair of extended usage ability vision enhancing contact lenses made by a Dr. Mary Splintcane. Having applied an adaptation acceleration spell, I have already noticed greater ease in my reading, and hereby recommend them to you. Sincerely, Princess Celestia."
At the same time as the above, in Canterlot...
Celestia sent the letter. She was, of course, quite smug that she had finally gotten something to wear despite Luna. As it happened, at that very moment, Luna walked in. "Hey, um, Lesty?" Celestia's inward thoughts need not be written. She tossed her head. "Uh, yes?" she said casually, glancing to the side that Mrs. I-played-chess-for-several-hundred-years was on. The said Mrs. continued "I... You... You give so much for me and you definately work the hardest by far so... You can wear the black hole pearls." She held out a tray with the white gold set she had designed earlier. Celestia walked up to it, examining it as she did so. In that fraction of a second, she decided. She wasn't going to fall for the guilt trip trick. With subtle ridicule she said "Well, that's very thoughtful of you," then turned to Luna and continued "but there's been a late entry. In fact I'm wearing them right now." She watched with glee as Luna's innocent little smile faded. "Wha-what was the submission?" the younger allicorn stammered. Celestia turned back to her work as she said "Vision enhancing contact lenses. I can read a newspaper fifty feet away with these, and much more." Out of the corner of her eye, Celestia watched Luna's reaction. She looked down, said "Oh. Well, uh, good. Great. I'm glad it worked out." and left the room. "Gotchya," Celestia whispered. Hardly anyhting could be less related from the truth.
Coming from Luna's perspective of the above events...
The last black hole pearl slid into place with a *click,* and Luna bent the brace over it. There. The set was done. She laid the pieces in an orderly fassion on a velveted tray, then thought for a minute about how to best present them. She decided a direct defrontation would be best. With that, she picked up the tray and headed towards the throne room. As she went, she was again passed by the same scientist, this time heading the other direction. She wondered for a minute, but didn't have long before she arrived at the door. She opened it cautiously. Celestia was looking at some papers. She stepped into the room. "Hey, um, Lesty?" she said, using Celestia's pet name to try and shoot for friendly relations. She immediately wondered if this had been a mistake, but Celestia seemed indifferent. "Uh, yes?" she replied, tossing her head.
Luna took another few steps forward, holding the tray behind her back and fumbling for words. "I... You... You give so much for me and you definately work the hardest by far so... (here she showed Celestia the tray) You can wear the black hole pearls." Celestia walked over to her, examining the tray as she did so. Luna tried to smile in a "I don't mind you having it"+"I hope you like it" way. For a moment it seemed as if Celestia really did like Luna's design, and her smile became real. Then the unexpectable happened. Still looking at the tray she said "Well, that's very thoughtful of you," then turned to Luna and continued "but there's been a late entry. In fact I'm wearing them right now." Luna didn't know what to think, and it didn't help that it suddenly seemed impossible to think at all.
Celestia's eyes were absolutely breathtaking. Luna felt as if she was moving through water, being pulled by the force one feels on a roller coaster going downhill. It was half pleasant, half terrifying. With great determination, she gathered her thoughts and managed to stammer "Wha-What was the submission?" Oh, relief, Celestia turned away as she spoke. "Vision enhancing contact lenses. I can read a newspaper fifty feet away with these, and much more." The phrase "and much more" was what caught Luna the most. It was obviously the contact lenses that had caused the water-rollercoaster phenomenon, but had Celestia meant for that to happen? She probably had, but to what degree? Was she still upset? Panicking, Luna decided to pull out for the time being and regroup. Maybe everything was alright anyway. Walking towards the door, she said "Oh. Well, uh, good. Great. I'm glad it worked out." and turned away hurriedly. She really was glad she would get to wear the pearls, but she was stll worried about the contacts when she put the jewelry on later that day as the exhibition was starting.
